Budget brides in Boston rejoice: while Filene’s Basement may have (sniffle) closed its doors, leaving its much-beloved Running of the Brides events hanging in the balance, a well-known bridal boutique (wishing to remain anonymous) has teamed up with Goodwill for what will hopefully become a new tradition:
Brides on a Budget – Goodwill. I will. I do!
Tomorrow (March 4th) from noon to 4 pm in the Atrium at Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries HQ (1010 Harrison Avenue, off Melnea Cass Boulevard), Goodwill has teamed up with Lasell College to offer more than 170 bridal gowns starting at $100 plus complimentary styling services from Lasell fashion students. Free parking is available, but expect the lot to fill up as quickly as the lines will form! (Download the PDF invitation from Goodwill, for the full details.)
As with all of their retail endeavors, proceeds from the sale will raise money for their important job training, career services & youth programs. You can see a preview of some of the gowns in the Prepping for Brides on a Budget album on Facebook.
Not in Boston this weekend? Check out ShopGoodwill.org, an auction site raising money for Goodwill chapters around the country, which regularly features gorgeous, like-new gowns from the likes of David’s Bridal and Alfred Angelo. If you’re lucky and visit regularly, you may even score something more couture.
If you do find a gorgeous Goodwill gown — or any other impressive Goodwill thrift scores — be sure to share it with us on Twitter using the hashtag #ThankGoodwillItsFriday.
