Save Your Weekends: Keeping Your Resolutions

Since it’s the first weekend of the new year, maybe you should at least try to stick to those resolutions. Instead of drinking all night or watching football with your face in a plate of nachos, here are some awesome alternatives that will help make 2013 the best year ever.
LEARN SOMETHING
From cooking to crafting to creating a better you, the Boston Center for Adult Education’s Take for $10 program is offering $10 classes on a variety of subjects through 1/4/13.
OPEN WIDE AND SAY OM
If you’ve resolved to get bendy or finally do a headstand, head on over to Athleta (92 Newbury Street, Boston) for free yoga classes on Saturday. Feel weird being the only dude on a mat? Head over to Broga (Arts at the Armory, 191 Highland Avenue, Somerville) to work on your pranayama and then talk Pats.
RUN THE WORLD GIRLS
Whether you’re taking on a marathon or just want some company for a brisk jog, join the ladies of Lululemon Running Club (Prudential Center, 776 Boylston Street, Boston) as they hit the pavement each Monday.
RAISE THE BARRE
The hottest workout trend as of late, get yourself a ballet booty with introductory Barre classes on Saturday, 1/5. It’s free for BSC Wellington members (70 Station Landing, Medford). Call or visit club for details.
TUTU FOR YOU
Speaking of ballet, if you dream of being Black Swan, see if your pliés can pass muster at Sunday’s Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre open house (400 Harvard Street, Cambridge). There are free adult and kid classes throughout the day.
EAT YOUR VEGGIES
If you’re hoping to eat healthier or more locally this year, there’s no better way to do that than shopping at a neighborhood farmers’ market. The Egleston Winter Market (45 Brookside Avenue, Jamaica Plain) has tons of leafy greens and root veggies to fill out your dinner plate.
THE DATING GAME
Looking for love in 2013? Learn tips and tricks from two of Boston’s best dating coaches, Tuesday 1/8 at Eastern Standard (528 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston). There’s also free wine!
