Save Your Weekends: Craft Beer, Collaboratory, Crafternoons + Cheap Bikes

Pinterest

Tara said it best this week: “This weather, am I right?”

No worries, I’ve got at least six ways to show that rain who’s boss and Save Your Weekend.

Hyper Local Craft Beer Fest
Friday June 14th & Saturday June 15th
Center for Arts at the Armory
191 Highland Ave
Somerville, MA
(Davis Square/Spring Hill)

Forget Colorado and Vermont: Massachusetts has some damn fine craft breweries, thankyouverymuch. Whether you take Dad/the hubs as a Father’s Day gift or just want to sample some super yummy small-batch beers, ciders, and meads, this is the steez for beer lovers this weekend.

PJ Pitches at Collaboratory
Satuday June 15th
10 am
40 Berkeley Street
Boston, MA
(South End)

Use the rainy weekend to make it rain, ladies! Most female entrepreneurs don’t get their projects funded because they don’t ask for meetings with venture capitalists, waiting to pitch until they feel at least 90% confident in their projects (while their male peers march in ahead of them, less prepared, and walk out with the funding). Let’s change that! Practice your pitches in a casual, constructive community of other women in business at this monthly brunch (mimosas included) — and check out my post on why Collaboratory is delivering on Sheryl Sandberg’s call to “Lean In” (and is also kinda like a John Hughes movie) this week on Boston.com’s Global Business Hub.

Malden Police Bike Auction
Saturday June 15th
10 am
Malden Police Department
Exchange & Commercial Street
Malden, MA
(Orange Line)

Channel your inner 21 Jump Street or just save serious moolah on summer wheels when the Malden PD cleans out their bike rack this weekend. Worth the trip to the end of the Orange Line — over 50 bikes are up for auction, with bids starting at $1!

Breakout Boston II: Roxbury
Saturday June 15th
1 pm
Bartlett Yard
Washington & St. James Streets
Boston, MA
(Dudley Square/Roxbury Crossing)

ONEin3 Boston invites you to break out of your neighborhood and get to know Dudley Square this weekend at this “sculptural potluck,” where you can bring your recyclables and reclaimed materials and add them to a huge community-built sculpture. Lunch to follow at 2pm at one of my favorite do-good dining spots: Haley House!

Host a Crafternoon
Anytime, Anywhere

Check out Tara’s tips over on DIY Boston this week for beating the rainy weather with a bunch of your favorite crafty peeps by hosting a “crafternoon” together at home.
