Since moving to Texas, my hair and my skin have been going absolutely berserk trying to figure out the strange new climate — my skin is oily and breaking out like I'm back in junior high and my hair is as dry and breakable as the bristles on a broom.

Before spending a ton of money on new products to compensate — or buying up a bunch of Groupons for facials and keratin treatments — I decided to finally try some of the DIY beauty recipes I'd been collecting on Pinterest. Hey, it's Spa Week this week, too, so why not!

I'm still an absolute failure when it comes to doing my own nails at home — seriously, how DO you cut your own cuticles? Can someone please teach this righty how to paint her right nails? —but I was super excited by how these 6 DIY beauty treatments made with coconut oil turned out. Hop on over to DIY Boston on Boston.com today for the recipes!

Ginger even got into the coconut oil & honey hair mask, and was a lot happier with the results than he was with the process. (The Dapper Dan man references on his Facebook page when he posted this were amazing.)

Do you have a favorite homemade beauty treatment? Love to hear all about it — share a link to your blog or Pinterest below, if you have one!
