Where's the (Bargain) Beef? Hamburger Day Deals

May 27, 2010 - 3:24pm

I'm a sucker for good burger. The mere mention of ground sirloin, covered in black pepper and seared on the grill, topped with blue cheese and stuck between a toasted bun, never ceases to send me salivating. (I even crave chicken burgers and veggie burgers. Really.)

Sure, eating red meat is neither the healthiest nor the most eco-friendly activity, but 'tis the weekend for firing up those barbecues, and — thankfully for me, now that writing this post has made me starving — tomorrow is also National Hamburger Day. (According to event planning website MyPunchbowl.com, May is also National Bike Month and this week is also National Frozen Yogurt Week, so maybe we can work off our splurge while pedaling towards dessert? I digress.)

There are deals aplenty and options for every burger lover on a budget, so break out the bibs and dig in to these specials:

Legal Seafoods Tuna Burger (all cities)
Calling it their "al-tuna-tive" to red meat for National Burger Day, the chefs at Legal are offering a special price ($14) on their popular ground yellowfin tuna burger, crusted with spicy crushed oyster crackers and topped with chili sauce. (Drools...)

LBS "Bracket Burgers" (2-for-1, Las Vegas)
From noon to 3pm tomorrow, be sinful in the Sin City by grabbing a bud and heading to LBS Burger Joint at the Red Rock Casino to double down on a Bracket Burger: one beef patty topped with American cheese, smoked bacon, 'Firecracker' crispy onions, a fried egg, lettuce, tomato, pickles, avocado, barbeque sauce and spicy mustard.

Smashburger For a Year Contest (all cities)
Through a partnership with Coke, one lucky burger buyer in each of Smashburger's 67 coast-to-coast burger joints will win a Golden Smashticket tomorrow, entitling them to 365 days of free burgers, sides, and Cokes at Smashburger. Check out NationalSmashburgerMonth.com for more info.

Blue Moon Burgers Facebook Contest (Seattle)
Fans of this indie Pacific Northwest burger chain who pick up one of their all-natural beef, chicken, or salmon burgers tomorrow can post a pic of themselves eating said burger on the Blue Moon Burgers Facebook page for a chance to win a $100 gift card.

White Castle Burger Candles for Autism Speaks (all cities)
Though they reportedly sold out within hours, White Castle celebrated National Burger Month by releasing charity-supporting burger-scented candles. We say check eBay to nab a bite of pop culture history.
